#HOW GOOD IS DELUGE TORRENT UTORRENT#
However, it seems that uTorrent is the least problematic of all available torrent clients to get approved (with few exceptions in the past). To answer both questions: every tracker has its own rules as to which clients, and more importantly, which versions of certain torrent clients are allowed, there is no general rule. I hope someone will eventually implement a feature that counts the time of a torrent beeing active after completing. That is handy if you have a dedicated folder for your torrents, because you don´t have to look for the particular torrent folder every time.Ħ) Deluge is much more flexible as its functionality can be expanded via plug-ins. What is maybe more important, if you have to recheck stuff in uTorrent, you should always point to the particular folder that contains the actual file content, whereas in Deluge it siffices to point to the one-level-up folder. (that is, sometimes it does not work as it is expected to). and it is really annoying when it crashes upon me and has to recheck all the stuff that had not completed bis dato.ĥ) uTorrent sometimes has its own mind when you have to recheck/hash torrents. With so many torrents, uTorrent becomes quite sensitive. I have more than 1000 torrents running all the time, so it makes a difference.

Also, apart from the issues of Deluge being a port, it conversely seems to be more stable with handling multiple torrents, provided you have enough resources. I am abusing it with all kinds of third-party applications like (most notably) AltDrag, and it has never died upon me so far. Nontheless, the GUI itself is surprisingly stable.

I know this does not seem to be much of a problem to you, but it seems to me that the time is not too far ahead of us when we may need 32 GB of RAM for torrenting!Ĥ) If you are a Windows user, you should take into account that Deluge is a port from Linux, albeit surprisingly stable port, but still a port, and thus happens to have its weird quirks from time to time. In any case, since Deluge appears to be more aggressive than uTorrent, one should expect higher memory and cpu usage on avarage, especially with a fast connection.

In the coming days I will try to mimick Deluge default settings in uTorrent as far as possible to see if this is purely a matter of settings or it is hardcoded.ģ) Right now, Deluge 1.3.1 seems to have some kind of excessive-memory-usage-bug under Windows 7 圆4 (may also apply to other Windows versions as well), so no matter how much resources you have, they won´t help you Actaully, I was about to play a little bit with the cache settings of Deluge to see if the problem is not related to them (like we have a similar thing in uTorrent with the trade-off disk usage vs. A few observations from my limited experience with Deluge 1.3.1 and uTorrent 2.0.4:ġ) Deluge has just very slightly more advanced capability to sort torrents according to their trackers: firsty, it shows the trackers in the sidebar, which enables you to browse your torrents after trackers, and secondly, it has the ability to obtaiin proper emoticons for the various trackers, which, depending on your taste and habbits, can be quite handyĢ) Deluge is definitely more aggressive in establishing and keeping connections alive, which is also probably one, if not the main, reason to deliver better accumulated stats on avarage than uTorrent.
